Sisters not Strangers is a coalition of Asylum seeker support groups, led by Lived Experience, which focuses on the particular problems faced by women – often only mentioned as an afterthought. All of these women are committed activists, organising demonstrations across the uk, headlining in rallies, making podcasts, appearing on national and regional tv and radio. Most are writers of poetry and drama.

The four SnS members appearing at a conference in Leeds University are (L-R) Mariam Yusef (WAST Manchester, Status Now), Tandrima Muzumbar (WAST Manchester, NESTAC); Loraine Masiya Mponela (CARAG, Migrant Voice);  Olivia Namutebi (Women for Refugee Women;  organiser Refugees Welcome Rally 2021). Olivia and Tandrima also appear in the full length photograph
